Just want to mention this solution for using the Scansnap s510 from Fujitsu on the MAC. The scanner was made windows only, however I followed a post from few years that mentioned that the software for some other scanner works on the Mac, I tried it and it saved the day, I don't have to dump my scanner and I don't have to buy a new one:

I downloaded V3.2L80, installed it on Sierra, I did get an error about performance however the software worked as advertised.

The earlier post suggested using software for the ScanSnap s1500 for Sierra compatibility. That machine is no longer supported. The best solution is to use the ScanSnap Manager software for the newer ix500. I have both this scanner (at work) and an older s510 (home). The ix500 software works great for both and is seamless when I bring my macbook Air back and forth between work and home.

Do NOT try to install the new ScanSnap Home software! It does not support the older scanners, only the ix500.
